Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews, assessing clients’ mental, emotional, and psychological health, and maintaining detailed case documentation from initial consultations through the duration of treatment.

• Develop and implement personalized intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, and groups, focusing on holistic approaches to wellness.

• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, using various therapeutic modalities that align with best practices in mental health counseling.
\n
• Continuously monitor each client's progress in accordance with established treatment goals and make necessary adjustments to their plans as needed.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with complex needs.

• Provide follow-up care and support for clients transitioning from inpatient care, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care.

• Educate and assist family members and primary caregivers in understanding mental health challenges and encourage supportive caregiving practices.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas.
\n
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to effectively manage client records and documentation.
\n
• In-depth understanding of the interplay between physical, emotional, and behavioral health, including familiarity with addiction and recovery principles.
\n
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities that foster trust and rapport with clients.

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience in a similar role as a Mental Health Counselor.

• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices in mental health care.

• Familiarity with psychoactive medications and their effects, to effectively advise clients and coordinate with medical specialists.
