Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments and accurately diagnose both acute and chronic health conditions affecting students.
• Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate individualized treatment plans based on best practices and patient needs.
• Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and make timely decisions regarding patient care.
• Prescribe necessary medications and therapies while monitoring patient responses and making adjustments as necessary.
• Provide health education and counseling to students and their families, focusing on disease prevention, nutrition, and overall wellness.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and school staff to identify and address barriers to learning and health, facilitating referrals when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with local and federal regulations.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be the students within the school, ranging from early childhood to high school age. You will address a variety of health concerns typical in this population, including minor injuries, acute illnesses, chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes, and mental health issues. Your expertise will be critical in helping students navigate their health challenges, ensuring they remain healthy and engaged in their education.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner, with an active state nursing license in New York.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, ideally in pediatrics, family medicine, or school health.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building rapport with students, families, and colleagues.

Compensation and Benefits
