Full-Time Family Nurse Practitioner for School-Based Health Services

Work Environment

This position is located onsite at a local school, providing the unique opportunity to work closely with students, educators, and families. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments to evaluate students’ health status.
• Diagnose and treat both acute and chronic conditions, tailoring interventions to the specific needs of school-aged children.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and develop individualized treatment plans that promote recovery and health maintenance.
• Administer immunizations and vaccinations to align with school health regulations and ensure compliance with public health guidelines.
• Provide valuable counseling and education on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes tailored to children's needs.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and screenings, to effectively assess and document patient needs.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including school nurses and mental health experts, to coordinate holistic care for students.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, as well as school policies.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is on children and adolescents, catering to various health needs that arise within the school environment. Our approach is holistic, addressing physical health as well as mental health concerns. You will engage with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses, fostering an inclusive atmosphere that promotes equity in healthcare delivery.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting working with individuals of all ages, with an emphasis on pediatric care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a school health setting or with school-age populations.
• Familiarity with childhood health issues, school health policies, and public health programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, families, and educational staff.

Compensation and Benefits
