Registered Nurse Operating Room Circulator

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Operating Room Circulator is responsible for facilitating the efficient and timely progression of surgical cases within the Operating Room. This role involves multi-tasking across various surgical specialties including abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastic, orthopedics, vascular, and OB/GYN procedures. The RN must ensure patient safety and effective communication among the surgical team while supporting both elective and emergency cases. A minimum of 3 years' experience as an OR circulator and an active Alaska RN license are required. Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and circulate during surgical procedures to ensure smooth operation flow.
• Prepare the operating room and surgical equipment prior to cases.
• Assist surgical teams by anticipating needs and providing necessary supplies and instruments.
• Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Support emergency and elective surgeries across multiple specialties.
• Utilize after-hours call services for staffing OR during nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and safety.
• Comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements regarding surgical care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska at time of submission.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Operating Room circulator.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN or ADN).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proof of flu vaccination.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
• Experience working in Critical Access Hospitals or rural operating room settings.

Special Considerations:

• Must complete fingerprinting and background checks prior to start date.
• Participation in after-hours call rotation including nights, holidays, and weekends is required.
• Work involves handling both elective and emergency surgical cases.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments include day shifts with on-call responsibilities for nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Start date contingent upon completion of required fingerprinting and credential verification.
