Job Description and Duties
The Immigration Services Bureau at the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is seeking highly motivated, passionate, self-starters who can design and monitor critical assistance programming for immigrant communities during emergent crises. You must possess excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong analytical background.
Under the general direction of the Supervisor I and Section Chief, the Analyst II will provide support to the Emergent Response program within the Immigrant Integration Branch. The responsibilities include building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, drafting recommendation memos for program design and funding decisions, managing contracts and grants, monitoring and evaluating program activities, and conducting policy analysis related to disaster assistance, and emergency services for immigrant populations. In addition, the Analyst II supports the wider Immigration Services Bureau activities and goals through filling in operational gaps and providing quality assurance support.
This is a 12-month limited term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24-months and/or may become permanent based on operational needs.

The Immigration Services Bureau is seeking an Analyst II dedicated to being a part of a high performing team where staff and external stakeholders work collaboratively to design and implement immigrant integration services throughout California.
This position may be eligible for Hybrid work. In-person attendance is required based on the operational needs of the position and in accordance with the Statewide Hybrid Telework Policy, Government Code section 14200, and any applicable department telework requirements. The successful candidate must reside in California at the time of appointment. Proof of California residency may be required .
Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

• Ability to work independently and with a high degree of initiative.
• Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and adapt to changing assignments and priorities, and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to quickly produce written deliverables such as emails, memos, and reports.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to recommend and apply creative solutions to a range of policy and program issues.
• Ability to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and make sound recommendations, and implement changes.
• Experience leading large meetings using strong verbal and written communication skills to present information or recommendations to all levels of internal and external stakeholders, including management and executive leadership.
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment in a hybrid setting.
• Knowledge and understanding or willingness and ability to learn CDSS organization, legislation, business program areas, technology architecture, and administrative processes.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Willingness to travel on short notice.
