Work Environment

Your work will primarily take place in our outpatient office setting, but the role allows for flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to better accommodate the needs of our clients. You will work closely with other mental health professionals, including physicians, nurses, and case managers, fostering a collaborative approach to treatment that ensures integrated care tailored to each individual’s unique circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough assessments and screenings to discern each client’s substance use history and mental health needs.
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that tackle the dual challenges of addiction and underlying mental health issues.
• Facilitate a range of therapy sessions, including individual and group therapy, while employing established evidence-based practices like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI).
• Engage with colleagues from a multidisciplinary team to streamline client treatment experiences, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
• Provide education and emotional support to clients' families, fostering a system of involvement and understanding that enhances the recovery process.
• Maintain comprehensive and confidential client records, strictly adhering to state regulations and ethical standards in therapy.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position focuses on individuals affected by substance use disorders, encompassing a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Many clients may also face co-occurring mental health disorders, requiring a nuanced understanding of how these conditions interact. Your role will involve developing therapeutic rapport with clients and utilizing your training to inspire change and resilience during their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• Current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is mandatory.
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a relevant field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices specifically related to substance abuse and mental health treatment.
• Exceptional therapeutic skills and the ability to motivate clients through empathy and understanding.
• Strong communication abilities to effectively collaborate with the treatment team.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of clinical experience in addiction counseling or a related area, with a focus on substance abuse treatment.
• Experience with family therapy techniques to support recovery in a holistic manner.
• Familiarity with local community resources for referrals and case management support.
