Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess the psychological and emotional needs of clients facing mood disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that are evidence-based and tailored to the specific goals and preferences of clients.
• Implement therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), ensuring methodologies are grounded in the latest research on mood disorders.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families regarding mood disorders, treatment options, and effective self-care practices.
• Monitor and document client progress, updating treatment plans to reflect changes in condition and implementing strategies for continued growth.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other health care professionals to deliver integrated care tailored to client needs.
• Stay informed about current research and advancements in the field of mental health, integrating findings into treatment strategies.
• Maintain confidential and accurate client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Participate in consultation sessions, team meetings, and ongoing professional development initiatives.
• Advocate for clients by working to reduce the stigma around mental health and enhance access to resources.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal LMFT candidate will work primarily with adults and adolescents experiencing mood disorders, such as depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. Our clients often come from diverse backgrounds, including vulnerable populations such as homeless individuals, refugees, and survivors of domestic violence. Your expertise and compassion will play a critical role in helping these clients navigate their mental health journeys and achieve lasting improvements in their quality of life.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current and active state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
• A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field is required.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop trustworthy relationships with clients.
• Demonstrated empathy, sensitivity, and a nonjudgmental attitude toward clients’ experiences.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to effectively handle a caseload and administrative tasks.

Preferred Experience

Experience in working with a broad range of mood disorders and familiarity with additional therapeutic modalities is highly valued. Candidates with prior experience in outpatient settings or with specific populations facing unique challenges, such as refugees or survivors of trauma, will be prioritized. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and telehealth technology is also desirable.
