Coastal Urgent Care is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic Urology department in Rochester, New York. Work Environment

This full-time role is based onsite in our Surgical Center, where teamwork thrives in a multi-disciplinary environment. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., providing a balanced work-life dynamic while ensuring comprehensive patient coverage. The PA will interact closely with patients, their families, and a range of healthcare providers, functioning as a critical liaison among all parties involved in the patient care continuum.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including taking detailed medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering necessary laboratory tests.
• Assist in significant clinical trials evaluating procedures like transrectal versus transperineal prostate biopsy, which includes recruiting and consenting participants, following up on their progress, and contributing to data collection and analysis.
• Educate patients and their families about urologic health, emphasizing wellness, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with institutional guidelines and collaborate closely with attending physicians on treatment plans.
• Document all patient interactions accurately, ensuring comprehensive records that bolster coordinated care among the healthcare team.
• Act as a point of contact for patients by managing phone inquiries, answering questions regarding test results, medications, and biopsy instructions.
• Mentor and support fellow healthcare professionals, including nursing staff and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Manage complex scheduling for treatments and follow-up care, maintaining optimal patient flow and satisfaction.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will engage with a diverse patient population suffering from various urologic disorders, including but not limited to prostate conditions, bladder issues, and kidney ailments. Our patients often require comprehensive, multidisciplinary care, necessitating your coordination with other healthcare providers to address their specific health needs efficiently.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field, and hold certification from an accredited PA program, alongside an active New York State medical license. Strong clinical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a patient-centered approach are essential to succeed in this position.

Preferred Experience

While prior experience in urology is preferred, it is not mandatory. We value candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt, and who are enthusiastic about engaging in ongoing education and training. Familiarity with clinical trial protocols and patient recruitment is highly advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 100,000 to 160,000, commensurate with experience, and includes opportunities for performance bonuses.
