Key Responsibilities

As a Physician Assistant at Prime Hospital, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of clinical duties aimed at delivering exceptional patient outcomes, including:

• Conducting thorough patient assessments through comprehensive history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to formulate effective treatment strategies.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging studies, and acting on the results to provide timely interventions.
• Developing and coordinating individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians and interdisciplinary clinical teams.
• Performing a variety of procedural tasks within your scope of practice, such as suturing, wound care, and catheter placements, ensuring high standards of patient safety and care.
• Documenting clinical encounters, patient histories, and treatment progress accurately in our electronic medical record (EMR) system to maintain clear communication among healthcare providers.
• Educating patients about disease prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care to empower them in their health journey.
• Actively participating in daily rounds, case discussions, and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives to address patient care challenges and enhance protocols.
• Maintaining professional licensure and certification, and engaging in ongoing education to stay current with the best practices in healthcare.

Patient Population / Client Focus

At Prime Hospital, you will primarily care for diverse patient populations undergoing surgical procedures. These patients range from elective surgery candidates to urgent cases requiring immediate intervention. Your role will be critical in managing pre-operative assessments and post-operative care, ensuring that each patient's physical and emotional needs are met throughout their surgical experience.

Qualifications

• A Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Valid Physician Assistant license in the State of New York.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• DEA registration with prescriptive authority in New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital, urgent care, or surgical environment.
• Strong clinical decision-making and procedural skills, demonstrated through past experiences.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.
• Adept communication and teamwork abilities, fostering a collaborative care atmosphere.
• Flexibility to adjust to varying shifts as the needs of the department arise.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience is required, candidates with additional experience in surgical assistance or advanced surgical settings will be favored. Familiarity with advanced surgical techniques and postoperative management will also be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 per year, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
