Key Responsibilities\n

  • Conduct initial assessments by performing preliminary interviews and documenting case histories from the onset of treatment through discharge.

  • Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health through intake sessions and ongoing assessments, identifying areas for improvement.
  • \n
  • Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans that cater to the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups, utilizing evidence-based methodologies.

  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic techniques to engage clients and promote healing.
  • \n
  • Regularly monitor and document client progress in accordance with treatment plans, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to create comprehensive intervention plans.

  • Coordinate follow-ups with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients requiring hospitalization or medication management.

  • Identify potential obstacles to recovery and implement proactive strategies to mitigate these challenges.

  • Support family members and caregivers by providing resources and strategies to manage mental health-related challenges effectively.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on a diverse range of clients from different socioeconomic backgrounds, many of whom may be facing issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and family relational challenges. Each client presents unique circumstances, and as a Mental Health Counselor, you will adapt your approaches to best meet their individual needs.

Qualifications\n

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • \n
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in New York State.
  • \n
  • Completion of relevant certification examinations, such as the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE).
  • \n
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, for effective documentation and case management.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders, including co-occurring physical health issues and addiction disorders.
  • \n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective client interactions and clear documentation.
  • \n
  • A compassionate approach with exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport and trust with clients.

Preferred Experience\n

  • Previous experience working as a mental health counselor or in a clinical setting focused on mental health.

  • Familiarity with the best practices and guidelines set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

  • In-depth understanding of medications and therapies prescribed by medical professionals relevant to mental health conditions.

Compensation and Benefits\n

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
