Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments by obtaining detailed health histories and performing physical examinations to identify pain etiologies.
• Develop and implement individualized pain management plans that include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments based on each patient's unique needs.
• Educate patients about pain management strategies, treatment expectations, and compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, while addressing potential medication side effects.
• Manage patients with complex chronic pain conditions through an empathetic and patient-centered approach.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor patient responses while ensuring adherence to safety protocols, including reviewing the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).
• Collaborate actively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to refine treatment strategies tailored to specific pain conditions.
• Utilize strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to identify underlying pain disorders effectively.
• Employ various diagnostic tools and procedures, such as nerve blocks and spinal injections, to alleviate patient pain.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on adult patients dealing with chronic and acute pain, many of whom may have complicated medical histories. You will approach each patient with a tailored mindset, respecting individual preferences and belief systems throughout their treatment journey.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with an active and valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in pain management or a related field.
• Deep knowledge of pain disorders, along with the ability to evaluate and treat complex cases.
• Proficiency in prescribing medications with a strong emphasis on patient safety and effective management.
• Experience with diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to pain management.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with advanced pain management techniques and procedures.
• Experience in an outpatient setting, particularly in pain-focused practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective patient education and motivational counseling.

Compensation and Benefits
