Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments by obtaining complete health histories and performing comprehensive physical examinations.
• Prescribe and manage both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for patients experiencing chronic and acute pain, utilizing evidence-based practices.
• Provide education, instruction, and counseling to patients regarding their pain management therapies, ensuring they understand treatment goals, medication side effects, and compliance with regimens.
• Develop and implement personalized pain management plans, consulting with physicians and utilizing diagnostic tests, such as MRI and CT scans, to guide treatment decisions.
• Perform interventional procedures such as nerve blocks, spinal injections, and the management of pain pumps to alleviate pain effectively.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of patient care and treatment outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Actively engage in case discussions with a multidisciplinary team to optimize each patient’s treatment plan based on their unique needs.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily care for patients suffering from various pain disorders, including but not limited to back pain, joint pain, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain. We aim to create a supportive atmosphere where patients feel heard and empowered to participate in their own pain management journey, ensuring treatment aligns with their individual beliefs and preferences.

Qualifications

• A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license.
• A minimum of two years of experience in pain management or a similar clinical setting.
• Robust understanding of pain disorders and their treatment options.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, coupled with proficiency in developing comprehensive treatment plans.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and patient engagement.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with various interventional pain management techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and pain management-related software.
• Certification from a recognized pain management organization would be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
