Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess students' mental health needs.
• Developing individualized treatment plans based on assessments, incorporating evidence-based practices tailored to the student’s unique circumstances.
• Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, monitoring students for effectiveness, side effects, and necessary dosage adjustments.
• Providing psychotherapeutic services using various approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), to help students navigate their challenges.
• Collaborating with teachers and school counselors to coordinate care and develop strategies that enhance student well-being.
• Educating students and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and self-care strategies to foster understanding and empowerment.
• Maintaining accurate electronic health records (EHR) and documentation to ensure compliance with legal standards and facilitate continuity of care.
• Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing insights on patient care, and sharing best practices to enhance overall service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on school-aged children and adolescents who are faced with various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other behavioral issues. You will work closely with students, their families, and educators to create a supportive network that promotes healing and resilience in a school setting.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• A current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in New York State.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in psychiatric settings, particularly with children and adolescents.
• Proficiency in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment protocols.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Experience working in school-based mental health settings.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally competent practices.

Compensation and Benefits
