St Paul Counseling Services is actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. As a professional committed to culturally sensitive practice, you will play a crucial role in delivering effective mental health care to a diverse patient population, addressing their unique needs and fostering mental well-being.

St Paul Counseling Services is a progressive outpatient psychiatry practice located in the vibrant community of Galveston, Texas. Our organization is focused on providing culturally competent mental health services, ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued. We specialize in supporting a variety of populations, including ethnic and cultural minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, as well as immigrants seeking mental health support. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work setting through a telehealth platform, allowing you to connect with patients from the comfort of your home. Our work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility required to accommodate our patients’ varying needs. As you engage with clients virtually, you will have access to the tools and resources necessary to provide high-quality therapy in a supportive and engaging format.

• Conduct comprehensive and culturally sensitive mental health assessments to fully understand each patient’s unique experiences, challenges, and strengths.
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based interventions, ensuring consideration of patients’ cultural backgrounds and personal circumstances.
• Provide therapeutic services through individual, family, and group therapy sessions, focused on addressing emotional, psychological, and social factors influencing mental health.
• Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other interdisciplinary professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care and a cohesive treatment plan.
• Offer crisis intervention services and support, employing your crisis management skills in high-pressure situations to stabilize and assist patients in need of immediate care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and available community resources, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential records in compliance with legal standards and ethical guidelines, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for consistency and documentation.
• Actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training sessions to continuously improve care quality and professional knowledge.
• Stay current with evidence-based practices and cultural considerations in mental health therapy, ensuring that your approach remains relevant and effective.

Your work will primarily involve serving clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including ethnic minorities and those within the LGBTQ+ community, seeking support for a range of mental health issues. By providing culturally tailored therapeutic interventions, you will play a crucial role in reducing barriers to access and improving mental health outcomes within these populations.

• A Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMFT, LPC, or LCSW) in the state of Texas.
• A deep understanding of mental health disorders, including evidence-based treatment approaches that are culturally competent and sensitive.
• Experience providing individual and group therapy with a focus on culturally responsive care methodologies.
• Strong crisis intervention and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of establishing rapport with diverse client populations.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and general computer applications essential for documentation and reporting.
• A commitment to upholding professional ethics, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to industry regulations in all aspects of practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team, showcasing a commitment to collective patient care.

• Previous experience working in a remote telehealth environment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with culturally responsive treatment methodologies and experience working with specific group populations, such as immigrants or LGBTQ+ individuals.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate multicultural training or workshops is a plus.
