Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews and assessments, documenting client cases meticulously from intake through discharge.

• Evaluate clients’ mental, emotional, and behavioral health to identify individual needs and formulate appropriate treatment plans.

• Design and implement evidence-based intervention plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups in various contexts.
\n
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, ensuring a supportive environment for all participants.
\n
• Monitor and track the progress of clients’ treatment plans, making necessary adjustments based on feedback and clinical judgment.
\n
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health specialists, medical professionals, and community resources to enhance client care.
\n
• Communicate effectively with psychiatrists and attending physicians regarding clients under hospital care, ensuring seamless coordination.

• Empower family members and caregivers by providing guidance on managing behavioral and emotional challenges related to mental health.

• Proactively identify barriers to recovery and employ strategies to promote positive behavioral changes.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The clients you will serve encompass a wide range of backgrounds and mental health challenges. Our demographic includes individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and family conflicts, with varying levels of severity. As a counselor at A Better Way, you will play a crucial role in guiding clients through their most difficult times, contributing to their overall well-being and recovery journey.

Qualifications\n

• Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current licensure as an LCPC, LCMFT, LMFT, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland.
\n
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document cases and engage with clients.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills that demonstrate empathy and build strong therapeutic relationships.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience providing mental health counseling in a clinical setting, with direct support to various patient populations.
\n
• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly AVATAR, for efficient client documentation and case management.
\n
• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and standards.
\n
• Experience addressing comorbid physical and emotional health conditions as well as addiction disorders.
\n
• Familiarity with the pharmacological interventions prescribed by medical specialists and understanding their implications on mental health treatment.

Compensation and Benefits\n

This position offers an attractive annual salary in the range of USD 80,000 to 100,000.
