Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments tailored to the geriatric population, taking into account their unique challenges, including cognitive and physical health changes.

• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that integrate therapeutic methods with considerations for each patient's medical history and social circumstances.

• Implement therapeutic interventions through individual and family therapy sessions, utilizing modalities that have been proven effective in treating geriatric mental health conditions.

• Collaborate intimately with geriatric psychiatrists and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care and to facilitate easy referrals to additional services when needed.

• Provide immediate crisis intervention for elderly patients during mental health emergencies, demonstrating the ability to assess risk and apply appropriate de-escalation techniques.

• Educate patients and their families on various mental health conditions, treatment options, and relevant community resources, empowering them to make informed decisions.

• Maintain meticulous documentation of all patient interactions and care in strict compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, which is particularly vulnerable to various mental health issues. You will work with individuals facing challenges such as late-life depression, anxiety stemming from life transitions, or cognitive decline related to conditions like dementia. By addressing these issues with sensitivity and understanding, you can directly improve patient outcomes, helping to enhance their quality of life.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is essential.

• Must hold current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred.

• Expertise in geriatric mental health disorders, as well as familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities specific to this age group.

• Proven experience delivering therapy to older adults and their families.

Compensation and Benefits\n
