The Health Disorder Mental and Counseling Center is seeking an experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated child and adolescent psychiatry office in Mount Vernon, New York. In this full-time, remote position, you will be integral to our mission of providing specialized mental health care for young individuals and their families, addressing critical issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders.

Work Environment\n

This role allows you to work in a remote setting, providing flexibility while ensuring you remain connected to our dedicated team. Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts based on patient needs.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments, utilizing evidence-based tools to evaluate the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of children and adolescents.

• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans that take into account each patient’s developmental stage and family dynamics.
\n
• Deliver effective therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy, tailored to address a wide range of mental health issues.
\n
• Facilitate family therapy sessions aimed at equipping parents and caregivers with strategies to foster a supportive home environment.
\n
• Work in tandem with child psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure a holistic approach is adopted in the care of all patients.
\n
• Provide crisis intervention support for children and adolescents in potential mental health emergencies, ensuring timely and sensitive assistance.
\n
• Educate families on mental health topics, available treatment options, and community resources to enhance their understanding and engagement in the care process.
\n
• Maintain precise and confidential documentation, adhering to all legal and ethical standards within the mental health field.
\n
• Engage actively in team meetings and professional development activities, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Stay informed about current research and advancements within child and adolescent psychiatry to provide the highest standard of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The children and adolescents you will work with range from ages 5 to 18, facing various challenges including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and behavioral issues. This role is dedicated to helping patients navigate these challenges by providing them with strategies and tools to thrive both in their personal lives and social environments.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
\n
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent in the state of New York.
\n
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred, particularly within child and adolescent mental health.
\n
• Deep understanding of child and adolescent mental health disorders, along with proficiency in evidence-based treatment methodologies.
\n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to connect with children, adolescents, and families in a compassionate manner.
\n
• Adept at utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage patient information effectively.
\n
• Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team while supporting each other's efforts toward patient care.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in delivering both individual and family therapy in a community clinic or outpatient setting.
\n
• Familiarity with evidence-based practices specific to child and adolescent therapy approaches.
\n
• History of engaging in professional development, including additional certifications or workshops beneficial to child and adolescent mental health care.

Compensation and Benefits\n
