Step into an impactful contract opportunity supporting young learners in a preschool setting. This onsite role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference with children who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs). You'll provide hands-on assistance in well-structured early childhood classrooms alongside a dedicated faculty, focusing on promoting positive behaviors and fostering a nurturing environment.
Your qualifications should include:
- Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit (must be current and not pending; a screenshot showing pending status on the DEEDS portal is required if applicable)
- Experience as a paraprofessional, especially working in early childhood or special education settings
- Confidence in implementing behavior support strategies for students with challenging behaviors, such as tantrums, aggression, or elopement
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and related services staff
- Willingness to obtain a CBC background check and fingerprinting at candidate’s cost
- Familiarity with individualized support plans and positive behavioral interventions
- Ability to build rapport, be patient, and remain flexible within a fast-paced school environment
Your primary duties will include:
- Delivering direct support and redirection to preschoolers within C-setting classrooms
- Assisting with the implementation of behavior intervention plans and classroom routines
- Contributing to a collaborative team approach with educators and therapists
- Providing a calm, supportive presence during escalated situations
- Accurately documenting student progress and behavioral data as requested
