Child and Adolescent Mental Health Counselor - Remote Opportunity

Position Overview

Vera's Family and Children Wellness Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate licensed mental health counselor to join our child and adolescent psychiatry team in a full-time capacity. This remote opportunity allows you to make a significant impact on the mental well-being of young individuals experiencing a variety of mental health challenges. Work Environment

This role is predominantly remote, enabling flexibility while allowing you to collaborate with your colleagues effectively through telehealth technologies. While the outpatient office provides the physical space for our team, the majority of your interactions with clients will take place virtually, ensuring that mental health services are accessible to those who need them most. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to evaluate the specific needs of children and adolescents, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s background and concerns.
• Design and execute individualized treatment plans that accommodate the developmental stages of patients, integrating family dynamics into therapeutic approaches.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions to treat a wide spectrum of mental health issues, focusing on building coping strategies and resilience in young individuals.
• Facilitate family therapy sessions aimed at empowering parents and caregivers to foster supportive environments that promote positive mental health.
• Collaborate with child psychiatrists and allied health professionals to coordinate care, ensuring that patients receive holistic support tailored to their needs.
• Provide timely crisis intervention and support for children facing mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and providing immediate therapeutic guidance.
• Educate patients and families on mental health issues, treatment modalities, and available community resources to enhance understanding and awareness.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential records in alignment with legal and ethical standards while employing electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficient documentation.
• Participate in regular team meetings, case consultations, and training workshops to foster professional development and share insights with colleagues.
• Stay abreast of the latest research, methodologies, and best practices within the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, continually enhancing your expertise.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will focus on a diverse range of clients, primarily children and adolescents dealing with various mental health disorders. You will engage directly with these young individuals and their support systems, ensuring that care is not only personalized but also culturally competent. Your ability to build trust and effectively communicate with children and their families will be pivotal in achieving positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting is highly preferred.
• Deep understanding of child and adolescent mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Proven experience in delivering individual and family therapy, with a commitment to child-centered practices.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; a warm and empathetic demeanor is essential for establishing rapport.
• Ability to efficiently adapt to a variety of electronic health record systems and other relevant technologies.
• Strong teamwork orientation, with a clear ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Experience

Experience working within outpatient settings and familiarity with techniques tailored for treating children and adolescents are advantageous. Applicants with backgrounds in trauma-informed care and experience managing diverse client needs will also be prioritized.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer an attractive annual salary ranging from USD 115,000 to 130,000 , commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, our organization provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
