Work Environment

Located in West Hempstead, New York, our surgical center is a fast-paced environment where teamwork and collaboration are essential. As a Physician Assistant in our urgent care setting, you will work alongside experienced physicians, nurses, and administrative staff. You will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse patient population, addressing a wide range of urgent health needs in an onsite clinical setting. Your work schedule will typically run from Monday to Friday with evening shifts, amounting to 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient examinations to assess health conditions and review medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory blood tests and imaging studies such as X-rays, to make informed medical decisions.
• Diagnose and treat various acute medical conditions, ensuring timely and appropriate care for patients with injuries and illnesses.
• Develop and implement customized treatment plans for chronic diseases, regularly monitoring patient progress and treatment efficacy.
• Prescribe medications as necessary and oversee their management to ensure patient safety and adherence to treatment regimens.
• Maintain meticulous and organized patient records and manage appointment scheduling to optimize care delivery.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding health issues, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications to encourage active participation in their health journey.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training to expand clinical knowledge and expertise.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will primarily serve a diverse patient base presenting with urgent care needs, including individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Given the nature of urgent care, your role will encompass treating a variety of conditions, from minor injuries and illnesses to more complex medical issues requiring immediate attention. A patient-centered approach will be vital in ensuring that each individual receives personalized care tailored to their specific healthcare requirements.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies preferred.
• Must possess a valid California State Physician Assistant license (PA-C) and a current DEA number.
• At least two years of proven clinical experience as a Physician Assistant in urgent care, emergency room, or hospital settings.
• In-depth knowledge of health regulations, clinical practices, and standards of care.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective interactions with patients and team members.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in delivering primary and acute care services.
• Background in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documenting patient information and treatment plans.
• Bilingual skills are a plus, enhancing communication capabilities within our diverse patient community.

Compensation and Benefits
