Work Environment

This position is onsite at a local school in Model City, New York, an area known for its commitment to nurturing a supportive educational environment. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, which may include school nurses, counselors, and teachers, fostering a strong network aimed at ensuring each child's health and well-being. Your typical work hours will be Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing you to maintain a balanced professional and personal life.

Key Responsibilities

As a Nurse Practitioner within our school setting, your role will encompass a range of vital healthcare responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough health assessments and physical examinations to determine students’ health status, identify diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications, ensuring each prescription is appropriate to a child’s age and medical history.
• Educate students and their families about vital health topics, including health promotion strategies, disease prevention, and effective management of chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes.
• Collaborate with school staff to effectively coordinate student care, facilitating necessary referrals to specialists when required to ensure a continuum of care.
• Maintain meticulous medical records following regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with both state and federal health documentation guidelines.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on the health needs of students aged 5-18, addressing both physical and mental health concerns within a school environment. Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Possess a Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• Certification in a specialized Nurse Practitioner area relevant to pediatrics or family health.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to formulate accurate medical diagnoses.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, parents, and school staff.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner is required, prior experience in a pediatric or school-based healthcare setting is highly desirable. Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $160,000 annually, reflecting the importance of this role to our organization and community.
