Work Environment

This role is an onsite position within our hospital setting, which features modern medical units designed for optimal patient care. You will collaborate closely with medical doctors, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare specialists, ensuring a seamless workflow for diagnostics, treatments, and follow-up care. Our Pain Management Team emphasizes a supportive atmosphere and operates with a commitment to addressing both physical and emotional health needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients, assessing both physical and mental conditions through detailed history taking and physical examinations.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies to develop appropriate treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
• Prescribe and manage pharmaceutical treatments, showcasing proficiency in medication therapy management tailored to individual patient needs.
• Document and maintain detailed patient records, tracking treatment progress and outcomes while complying with healthcare regulations.
• Engage in all aspects of perioperative care, including preoperative assessments, postoperative follow-up, and coordination of care with surgical teams.
• Facilitate communication with referring physicians and allied health professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to patient management and optimal care pathways.
• Actively educate patients on self-management strategies, including lifestyle modifications and adherence to treatment regimens.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, including but not limited to musculoskeletal disorders, neuropathic pain, and post-surgical pain management. You will encounter a diverse patient demographic, requiring sensitivity and aptitude in handling varying medical histories, cultural backgrounds, and personal circumstances. Engaging with patients in a meaningful way will be critical to establishing trust and improving health outcomes.

Qualifications

• A valid and active Physician Assistant license in New York State is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies, with a Master’s degree preferred.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is mandatory.
• Proficient in interpreting diagnostic tests, with a strong acumen for critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and the ability to utilize healthcare software effectively.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, preferably in a pain management or outpatient surgical setting.
• Experienced in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing complex patient caseloads.
• Demonstrated history of patient education and advocacy.

Compensation and Benefits

Fortitude Healthcare Center offers a competitive salary range of USD 150,000 to 180,000 per year, commensurate with experience, in addition to a robust benefits package which includes health, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, and paid time off.
