Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments by obtaining detailed health histories and performing comprehensive physical examinations to better understand patient needs.
• Design, implement, and manage both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment plans tailored to address chronic and acute pain disorders.
• Educate and counsel patients regarding pain management goals, retrieving their comprehensive medication histories, and discussing compliance with prescribed therapies, while being attentive to medication side effects.
• Provide compassionate care to patients experiencing chronic pain, fostering trust and open communication to facilitate effective pain management.
• Prescribe medications as outlined in treatment plans and regularly monitor patient progress while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including checking the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).
• Collaborate with physicians to determine the most appropriate treatment modalities for each patient, making adjustments based on evolving patient needs.
• Utilize strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to evaluate complex pain disorders and address them with advanced treatment options.
• Develop comprehensive pain management plans that incorporate various treatment modalities, ensuring they align with patient values and preferences.
• Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and families, assisting them in navigating their pain management journey.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working primarily with adult patients facing chronic pain issues, including but not limited to conditions like neuropathic pain, arthritis, and post-surgical pain syndromes. Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis on advanced clinical practice.
• Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license issued by the state of New York.
• Minimum of two years of direct experience in pain management or a related field.
• Robust knowledge of pain disorders, treatment modalities, and medication management practices.
• Experience in utilizing diagnostic tests and clinical judgment to identify and address underlying issues contributing to patient pain.
• Proficiency in advanced procedures such as nerve blocks, spinal injections, and pain pump installations.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in interdisciplinary team-based care, and understanding of pharmacotherapy as it pertains to pain management.
• Ability to engage with diverse patient populations, adapting care approaches as needed to align with each patient’s unique beliefs and preferences regarding pain management.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement patient educational materials related to chronic pain management.
