Key Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments by interviewing patients, obtaining medical histories, and conducting thorough physical examinations.
• Managing diagnostic testing, including ordering, evaluating laboratory tests, and making preliminary diagnoses based on findings.
• Prescribing medications within the provider-physician institutional agreements and educating patients and families about their health management plans.
• Participating actively in clinical trials focused on urological procedures, specifically assisting with patient recruitment, consent processes, follow-up care, and data management.
• Ensuring timely communication with patients regarding test results, medication refills, and treatment plans.
• Serving as a liaison between various medical teams, coordinating care with primary physicians, nurse case managers, and specialists.
• Providing mentorship and guidance to nurses, medical students, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Maintaining thorough documentation of patient encounters and care activities.
• Overseeing clinic schedules, ensuring effective time management and prioritization of patient care activities.
• Collaborating with colleagues to enhance team performance and ensure superior patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role caters to a diverse patient population affected by various urological diseases. Patients may range from individuals with routine health check-ups to those requiring advanced procedures, necessitating a tailored and patient-centric approach to care. The PA will be instrumental in ensuring continuity of care, particularly for patients drawn from various geographic and cultural backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a Certified Physician Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York State, with the understanding that equivalent experience may be considered as long as it meets the necessary regulatory frameworks.
• Valid CPR certification, with a commitment to maintaining current licensure and relevant certifications throughout the course of employment.

Preferred Experience

Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience as a Physician Assistant within an outpatient setting, particularly with a focus on urology or surgical procedures. Familiarity with clinical trial protocols and research design will be an advantage, as will strong communication skills and a demonstrated capacity for teamwork.

Compensation and Benefits
