Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct initial mental health evaluations through thorough interviews, accurately documenting case details from the first consultation to discharge.

• Assess clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional conditions using standardized tools to inform treatment strategies.

• Develop tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, based on comprehensive assessments.

• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, providing a safe space for clients to express their thoughts and experiences while guiding them through therapeutic exercises.

• Continuously monitor client progress against treatment goals, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure consistent improvement.

• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses to construct a holistic approach to patient well-being.

• Follow up with medical providers to obtain comprehensive insight into clients admitted for inpatient care, ensuring continuity of treatment.

• Identify potential barriers to recovery in clients' lives and implement strategies to mitigate these challenges effectively.

• Provide guidance to families and primary caregivers, assisting them in understanding and managing their loved ones' mental health issues.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and present a variety of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and relationship issues. As a mental health counselor, you will be expected to adapt your therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual or group, ensuring culturally sensitive and effective care. Your role will be pivotal in helping clients develop coping mechanisms and achieve their personal recovery goals.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

• A proven track record of previous experience as a mental health counselor, ideally in an outpatient setting.

• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, for documentation and client management.

• Familiarity with the impact of physical health issues and addiction disorders on mental well-being.
\n
• Knowledge of best practices in mental health care as recommended by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey information clearly and compassionately.

• Strong interpersonal skills along with a genuine desire to help individuals improve their mental health.

Compensation and Benefits\n
