Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough intake assessments including diagnostic evaluations of clients to develop tailored treatment plans.

• Provide crisis intervention and diversion strategies to manage acute situations effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.

• Implement treatment interventions through both face-to-face and telehealth sessions, adapting methodologies to meet unique client needs.
\n
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other federal and state privacy regulations to protect client confidentiality.
\n
• Engage in clinical meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions to enhance treatment approaches and share insights.

• Participate actively in professional development through training, conferences, and workshops to continually refine clinical skills.

• Supervise and provide mentorship to junior therapists and interns, ensuring high standards of care implementation.

• Facilitate case management and advocacy, linking clients with community resources to support their recovery.

• Maintain accurate clinical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, ensuring documentation aligns with agency and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with families and significant others in monitoring treatment responses and helping to make necessary adjustments.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The Mental Health Counselor will work with a diverse client population that encompasses various socioeconomic statuses, backgrounds, and personal challenges. You will provide culturally-sensitive care and adapt your therapeutic methodologies to ensure they fit the lives and experiences of each client you engage with, including those with intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in a human services-related field is required.

• A valid and active license to practice as an LPC, LMFT, or LICSW in the District of Columbia.

• Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and telehealth platforms for effective service delivery.

• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational abilities with a focus on maintaining accurate and detailed records.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience in a community health setting is highly desirable.
