Key Responsibilities\n

• Provide short-term crisis counseling to non-violent individuals experiencing mental health episodes, ensuring immediate support and stabilization.

• Accompany law enforcement officers in situations requiring mental health expertise, assisting in de-escalating critical incidents.

• Engage in training sessions with police personnel to equip them with effective strategies for handling mental health crises, thereby reducing the reliance on force.

• Manage case files and collaborate with entities such as the Department of Mental Health and local psychiatric facilities to accelerate referral processes and follow-up care.

• Document extensive and confidential patient information meticulously, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards and organizational protocols.

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations in collaboration with law enforcement in the field to assess the need for involuntary detention under the 5150/5585 criteria.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will primarily involve supporting community members who may be homeless or struggling with substance use disorders, mental illness, or both. By developing individual action plans and connecting them with appropriate services, you will play a crucial role in facilitating their access to both mental health resources and housing options. You will also engage with those who find themselves in legal situations yet exhibit non-violent behavior associated with their mental health status.

Qualifications\n

• A Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.

• Current and valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure is mandatory.

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is preferred.
