Work Environment

This position is based onsite at our hospital facility in West Hempstead, NY. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication among healthcare professionals. Our work schedule for this role is Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour workday, and the necessity to accommodate occasional overtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practitioner care to orthopedic patients, including both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
• Conduct thorough patient histories and examinations, leading to accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Interpret radiology reports and lab results to inform clinical decision-making.
• Assist in the management of patients across various care settings—from hospital inpatient services to outpatient clinics—encompassing pre-procedural assessments and post-operative follow-ups.
• Write prescriptions, order necessary therapeutic regimens, and perform various procedures under the guidance of the attending orthopedic surgeon.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program with a Master’s degree or higher.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA).
• National certification as a Physician Assistant.
• DEA Certificate to be obtained within three months of hire.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
• Strong self-direction and organizational skills necessary for functioning independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant, particularly in orthopedic specialty care.
• Experience in managing urgent referrals and wound care procedures.
• Familiarity with surgical assistance under the supervision of an attending orthopedic surgeon.
• Able to lift 25 pounds and navigate hospital settings with ease, which includes properly identifying injuries and reading gauges.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
