Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will:

• Diagnose and treat patients with various behavioral and psychiatric conditions, implementing evidence-based approaches to enhance patient outcomes.
• Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to the needs of each patient.
• Provide psychotherapy and support the emotional well-being of patients through active listening and evidence-informed therapeutic techniques.
• Manage medication regimens, monitoring effectiveness and adjusting dosages as necessary while consulting with patients about their treatment plans.
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans for homebound patients by analyzing medical histories and interpreting diagnostic data.
• Maintain professional standards of care rooted in ethical practice and the latest medical guidelines.
• Engage collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to create and manage care plans for complex patients.
• Partner with local agencies such as home health providers, labs, and imaging companies to facilitate comprehensive care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on self-management techniques for mental health conditions, empowering them to be active participants in their treatment.
• Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and healthcare policies, safeguarding patient privacy and information.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves the geriatric population, focusing on individuals dealing with age-related psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline. Your skill in understanding the unique challenges of this demographic will be pivotal in creating tailored treatment approaches that respect their living situations and personal preferences.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must hold:

• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in Mental Health.
• An active nursing license in Nevada.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required) and a Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• A minimum of three years of clinical experience, with a focus on psychiatric and geriatric health.
• Proficiencies in electronic medical record systems and familiarity with geriatric assessment tools.
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills to manage patient interactions effectively.

Preferred Experience
