Work Environment

This position is onsite and involves working within patients' homes across Alexandria, Virginia. Home care settings require adaptability and skilled interaction, as therapists engage with patients in diverse environments. You will be equipped with necessary tools and resources to help patients achieve their rehabilitation goals safely while building meaningful relationships with them and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patients' physical conditions by performing comprehensive physical examinations tailored to their unique needs.
• Create personalized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and innovative techniques to facilitate recovery.
• Implement varied therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, and other treatments to promote mobility and alleviate pain.
• Continuously document patient progress and modifications to treatment plans to ensure effective management of care.
• Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation processes, offering guidance on techniques and exercises to facilitate recovery at home.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, such as nurses and occupational therapists, to provide holistic patient care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and stay abreast of best practices and new methodologies in physical therapy.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role involves treating patients recovering from injuries, surgical procedures, and chronic conditions—all within the comfort of their own homes. This includes a diverse patient population with varying mobility levels and therapeutic needs. Your ability to customize treatment approaches will play a critical role in their recovery journey and overall well-being.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
• A current and active state license to practice physical therapy in Virginia.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, caregivers, and team members.
• Proficient in using technology, including electronic health record systems, to document and track patient progress.
• Possess a flexible and agile mindset, capable of adjusting therapy approaches based on individual patient responses.

Preferred Experience

• While prior experience is not required, candidates with a background in home health, geriatric care, or rehabilitation therapy will be given preference.
• Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive modalities is beneficial.
• Experience in developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to various diagnoses will enhance your candidacy.
