Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will take on a variety of responsibilities, including:

• Conducting thorough mental health assessments and evaluations to determine the needs and desires of incarcerated individuals for mental health services.

• Providing crisis intervention services and executing tailored treatment plans that address both immediate and long-term mental health needs.
\n
• Collaborating with the Department of Correction to ensure inmates have access to appropriate housing and mental health treatments.

• Completing documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, including statistical reports and treatment notes, to ensure compliance and continuity of care.

• Participating in weekly clinical supervision sessions to enhance your skills and receive guidance from experienced supervisors.

• Conducting group therapy and educational sessions, particularly within mental health observation units, to facilitate peer support and therapeutic engagement.

• Engaging in case conferences and team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment planning, ensuring a cohesive approach to patient care.

• Potentially conducting psychological testing and supervising interns or volunteers to support their development in a real-world setting.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This position primarily focuses on incarcerated individuals who are experiencing behavioral health issues, substance use disorders, or severe mental illnesses. You will be instrumental in addressing the unique challenges faced by this population, striving to promote recovery and reintegration into society while ensuring that they receive appropriate mental health services.

Qualifications\n

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A valid and active license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Washington.

• A Master’s degree or Doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of five years of full-time, paid, professional experience providing direct patient care in a behavioral health setting, with at least two years post-licensure experience.

Preferred Experience\n

While not mandatory, candidates with the following experience will be given preference during the hiring process:

• Hands-on experience conducting assessments and treatments for individuals presenting with severe mental illnesses, substance use issues, or behavioral problems.

• Experience within correctional health services or inpatient mental health programs.

Compensation and Benefits\n
