Position Overview AERONAUTICS: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) – San Diego Community College District – District Wide location – Adjunct position. Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. The position includes Aviation Operations. Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct positions for its three campuses and continuing education centers on a continuous basis. This position is a part of the adjunct pool; assignments are made when needed and applicants will be contacted accordingly. Major Responsibilities Primary duties related to curriculum and teaching; assignment divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in subject areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Minimum Qualifications Degrees from regionally accredited institutions. Either: a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; or an Associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; or the equivalent. Possession of a valid FAA Certified Flight or Ground Instructor Certificate (for FAA Part‑141 Pilot School courses); or FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (for FAA Remote Pilot courses); or the equivalent. Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff. Desired Qualifications Valid FAA Certified Flight or Ground Instructor Certificate (required for FAA Part‑141 Pilot School courses). Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (required for FAA Remote Pilot courses). California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) if possessed. Licenses/Certificates/Credentials FAA Certified Flight or Ground Instructor Certificate or FAA Remote Pilot Certificate as applicable. California Community College Instructor Credential if possessed. Employment Conditions Submit official college transcripts. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renewed every 4 years). Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district's expense (clearance must be received prior to first day of employment). Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Pay Information You may view the current salary schedule. At the time an offer is made, salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations. Instructors with advanced coursework will be placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules effective the first month following receipt of the official transcripts. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted.
