Work Environment

This full-time position is based onsite at our hospital facility in Ithaca, offering a supportive and dynamic work environment that fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals. You will work standard hours of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a focus on patient interaction and care at the clinic. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to develop effective, individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Perform thorough physical examinations and order necessary diagnostic tests to evaluate patient conditions accurately.
• Administer various injections, including trigger point injections and joint injections, as part of comprehensive pain management strategies.
• Prescribe medications, ensuring safety and efficacy in pain management practices while educating patients about potential side effects.
• Monitor and document patient progress diligently, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Provide educational support to patients and their families on pain management techniques, healthy lifestyle practices, and prescribed treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
• Engage actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to collaboratively discuss and optimize patient care approaches.
• Promote health literacy by informing patients about their conditions, treatment options, and preventive practices.
• Advance professional knowledge and stay current on best practices through ongoing research and participation in professional development opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this position, you will be working primarily with patients suffering from various forms of chronic pain, including but not limited to fibromyalgia, arthritis, and post-surgical pain. This role requires empathy, patience, and strong communication skills, as you will be addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of pain management. Your expertise will be vital in helping patients understand their treatment options and in guiding them towards improved health outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
• A current and valid New York State Physician Assistant license.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) is required.
• Possession of a DEA and NPI number for prescribing medications.
• Proven experience as a Physician Assistant within a clinical, hospital, ER, or similar healthcare setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of health and patient care regulations.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to foster productive relationships with patients and colleagues.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in pain management or related medical fields is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical background in acute care, internal medicine, family health, or urgent care is an asset.
• Proficiency in utilizing clinical software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to 160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
