Vera's Family and Children Wellness Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our child and adolescent psychiatry team in West Hempstead, New York. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work remotely within a community health clinic setting, where you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive mental health care tailored to the needs of children and adolescents.

Work Environment\n

This role allows for a flexible work environment, primarily performed remotely, while still fostering collaboration with your colleagues who are committed to holistic patient care. Our clinic operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though occasional evening shifts may be necessary to accommodate our patients' needs. Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct detailed mental health assessments to identify the unique needs of children and adolescents, using validated assessment tools.

• Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans, which incorporate developmental considerations and engage family dynamics in the healing process.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, to address mental health concerns effectively.
\n
• Facilitate family therapy sessions to empower parents and caregivers in fostering a supportive and nurturing home environment.

• Collaborate closely with child psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated patient care.

• Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions to manage acute situations.

• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and available community resources to promote understanding and support.
\n
• Maintain accurate and secure documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.

• Engage in regular team meetings, case consultations, and professional development activities to enhance skills and share knowledge.
\n
• Stay current with research, best practices, and advancements in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, applying new knowledge to enhance patient care.

This position emphasizes working with children and adolescents facing various mental health challenges. Your efforts will focus on fostering resilience, improving coping strategies, and facilitating healthy emotional development in young patients, made possible through a family-centered approach that values input and active engagement from parents and caregivers.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
\n
• A current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
\n
• Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent mental health disorders, as well as effective treatment modalities aligned with evidence-based practice.
\n
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate approach and an ability to connect with children, adolescents, and their families effectively.
\n
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications to manage patient information appropriately.
\n
• A collaborative spirit and willingness to engage as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to collective patient outcomes.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in providing individual and family therapy focused on the needs of children and adolescents.

• Experience with community outreach and engagement initiatives, as well as familiarity with local resources for children’s mental health support.

Compensation and Benefits\n

We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
