Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner - Full-Time Onsite Role

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial patient histories and perform physical examinations to assess health conditions accurately.
• Document and communicate detailed plans of care, actively following up to ensure patients receive comprehensive screenings and thorough preparations for their appointments.
• Conduct daily patient rounds, reviewing their progress and making necessary adjustments to care plans as medical conditions evolve.
• Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests while ensuring clarity and compliance with current medical standards.
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic test results, using these findings to enhance patient care decisions.
• Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide the highest quality of patient care and to foster a team-oriented care environment.
• Prepare and document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals for patients, ensuring they receive clear post-discharge care instructions.
• Engage in ongoing professional development by participating in performance improvement, research activities, and educational training within the organization.
• Complete any additional responsibilities related to patient care and health outcomes, in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work closely with a diverse patient population, addressing a wide range of healthcare needs within the internal medicine domain. Your patients will encompass adults of all ages, many of whom may present with chronic conditions requiring a keen understanding of management strategies and comprehensive follow-up care to ensure a holistic approach to their health.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program from an accredited institution.
• National Board Certification in the specialty area of internal medicine is required.
• A valid and current Nurse Practitioner license as well as a Registered Professional Nurse license to practice in New York State.
• Demonstrated experience with collaborative practice agreements, following protocols filed with the NYS Department of Education or attestation of a collaborative relationship as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act of 2015.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with prior experience in an outpatient internal medicine setting will be given preference. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly those that streamline patient management processes, is advantageous. We also value experience in patient education and chronic disease management, as these skills contribute significantly to our team and patient success.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 150,000 to 160,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
