Key Responsibilities Conduct culturally sensitive mental health assessments to understand patients' unique experiences and create tailored treatment plans that consider their backgrounds. Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, utilizing techniques adapted to meet the diverse needs of individual patients. Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions, focusing on overcoming mental health challenges, building resilience, and promoting overall wellness. Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for patients. Deliver crisis intervention and support in urgent mental health scenarios, ensuring that patients receive immediate assistance when needed. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment methods, and available resources in the community. Maintain accurate and strictly confidential documentation of patient interactions and treatment plans to comply with legal and ethical standards. Actively participate in case discussions, team meetings, and ongoing training to enhance cultural competence and therapy methodologies. Stay informed about new research, best practices, and cultural considerations in mental health therapy to continually improve service delivery. Patient Population / Client Focus Our client focus is primarily on individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds including ethnic and cultural minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and immigrants. As a therapist, you will engage with patients facing unique challenges stemming from their cultural, social, and economic experiences. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a healing environment that affirmatively addresses these complexities. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Current and valid license as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State. A comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders, evidence-backed treatment strategies, and a strong commitment to cultural competence in therapy. Experience in delivering individual and group therapy, using approaches that are respectful and inclusive of diverse cultural backgrounds. Exceptional crisis intervention skills with the ability to manage high-stress situations effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse clientele. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and essential computer applications necessary for effective documentation. Commitment to maintaining clear professional boundaries, adherence to ethical guidelines, and absolute confidentiality. A collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience Experience working within a multicultural counseling setting, preferably with marginalized communities. Proven track record of utilizing varied therapeutic approaches to address specific client needs. Active participation in ongoing professional development learning, especially in culturally competent practices.
