Vera's Family and Children Wellness Center is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic child and adolescent psychiatry team. In this full-time, remote role, you will play a pivotal part in providing specialized mental health support to children and adolescents facing various challenges. Our outpatient practice in East Amherst, New York, focuses on delivering compassionate and comprehensive care that addresses a spectrum of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, Attention- Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and behavioral disorders. Work Environment\n

This position is entirely remote, offering flexibility while maintaining our commitment to high-quality mental health care through telehealth services. As a member of our team, you will utilize advanced technology to conduct assessments, provide therapy, and engage with families. The workweek consists of regular office hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts as needed for patient care.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to evaluate the psychological and emotional needs of children and adolescents, tailoring approaches based on individual circumstances.

• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans that take into account each patient's developmental stages, family dynamics, and cultural backgrounds.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions to assist young individuals in overcoming mental health issues, ensuring to adapt methods according to progress.

• Deliver family therapy sessions to counsel parents and caregivers on nurturing environments conducive to the healthy growth of their children.

• Work closely with child psychiatrists and interdisciplinary health care professionals to coordinate and streamline care, maintaining open lines of communication.

• Provide crisis intervention support during mental health emergencies, ensuring safety and immediate assistance for children and adolescents in distress.

• Educate families about mental health disorders, available treatment options, and community resources, empowering them to engage in their child's care.
\n
• Maintain confidential and legally compliant documentation of patient interactions and treatment plans in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Actively partake in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development opportunities to enhance collaborative approaches and clinical skills.

• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in child and adolescent mental health care, integrating best practices into clinical work.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

You will primarily work with children and adolescents, often requiring an understanding of their unique developmental needs and emotional triggers. As part of our team, you will engage with diverse backgrounds and address a wide range of mental health issues, fostering supportive therapeutic relationships and promoting positive mental health outcomes.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A current and valid license as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
\n
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, demonstrating proficiency in child and adolescent mental health.
\n
• Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic modalities relevant to child and adolescent mental health disorders.
\n
• Experience in delivering both individual and family therapy tailored to youth.
\n
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate, child-centered approach to care.

• Ability to build rapport and establish trust with children, adolescents, and their families.
\n
• Competence in using EHR systems and computer applications relevant to clinical practice.
\n
• Strong teamwork capacity, contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Experience\n

• Previous experience in a telehealth setting, adapting therapeutic practices for virtual delivery.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this position ranges from USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We also offer a sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team.
