Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments through detailed history taking and physical exams to determine the appropriate diagnosis and treatment pathways.
• Collaborate with physicians to assist in carrying out interventional pain management procedures, such as nerve blocks and injections, under established protocols.
• Prescribe medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications tailored to individual patient needs, while diligently adhering to regulatory standards and best practices.
• Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of patient progress, enabling adjustments to treatment plans as necessary based on patient feedback and clinical observations.
• Provide thorough education to patients and their families about pain management options, self-care strategies, and rehabilitation exercises to empower them in their recovery journey.
• Maintain meticulous medical records and documentation to ensure compliance, enhance communication between care providers, and facilitate continuity of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses primarily on adult and geriatric patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, including but not limited to arthritis, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical pain syndromes. The PA will be integral in addressing the physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects related to these conditions, implementing a holistic approach to pain management that fosters patient engagement and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution.
• Current, active Physician Assistant license valid in New York State.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to address the diverse backgrounds and needs of our patient population.
• Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster effective relationships with patients and colleagues alike.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of experience in pain management or a related field is preferred to ensure an understanding of complex pain syndromes and management protocols.

• Skills in performing comprehensive nerve blocks and administering therapeutic injections under the supervision of attending physicians.

Compensation and Benefits
