Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will:

• Direct comprehensive physical therapy treatments aimed at preventing disability, relieving pain, and restoring muscle function in alignment with personalized care plans.
• Evaluate clients' functional levels through advanced diagnostic assessments and develop tailored treatment strategies based on their unique needs.
• Oversee and guide physical therapy assistants in executing care plans effectively and safely.
• Assess home environments to provide recommendations that promote client independence and enhance rehabilitation efforts.
• Administer a variety of therapeutic interventions, including manual and non-manual exercises, traction, and functional activities to maximize patient capabilities.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to participate in case conferencing, providing insights to optimize treatment plans.
• Document and maintain accurate clinical records, including evaluations, care plans, and progress notes.
• Actively engage with patients and families, educating them on therapy techniques and the proper use of assistive devices.
• Monitor and report on patient conditions, adjusting care plans in consultation with physicians as necessary.
• Provide mentorship and supervision for Physical Therapy Assistants, promoting their professional growth and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Virginia.
• CPR certification and a valid driver's license with automobile insurance.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, allowing effective engagement with patients, families, and team members.

Preferred Experience

We prefer candidates who have:

• At least one year of experience in a physical therapy setting, particularly in outpatient or home care environments.

Compensation and Benefits
