Work Environment

This role offers a unique remote working environment, allowing flexibility while you engage with students and families. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate mood disorder symptoms in clients, utilizing validated assessment tools and techniques to ensure accurate diagnostic information.
• Collaborate with clients to create individualized treatment plans that align with their specific needs, goals, and personal preferences, ensuring a client-centered approach.
• Employ evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring your approach to each client’s unique situation.
• Provide education to clients and their families regarding mood disorders, potential treatment pathways, and practical self-care strategies to empower them in managing their mental health.
• Monitor client progress diligently, employing tracking systems to assess the efficacy of treatment plans and adapting strategies as needed to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
• Engage in collaborative care with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to address the complex needs of your clients holistically.
• Stay informed on current research and developments in mental health, ensuring your treatment methods reflect the latest best practices in mood disorder management.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and outcomes in adherence to legal and ethical standards, using electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
• Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and continuous professional development to enhance your clinical skills and network with peers.
• Advocate for clients, striving to de-stigmatize mental health issues and ensure that clients receive the support they need within the school community.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position is primarily focused on working with students experiencing mood disorders. You will engage directly with young individuals, assessing their mental health needs and providing crucial support during formative years. Your expertise will play a vital role in shaping their academic and social experiences, contributing to healthier school environments.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution is required; a Master's or Doctoral Degree is preferred.
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of New Jersey is mandatory.
• Proven knowledge of evidence-based treatment methodologies specific to mood disorders, such as CBT and DBT.
• Familiarity with psychopharmacological treatments and a collaborative spirit that allows seamless cooperation with psychiatrists and medical staff.
• Exceptional communication skills, enabling you to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and ensure an inclusive environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with school-age children and adolescents, particularly in assessing and treating mood disorders.
• A strong track record of achieving positive client outcomes and experiences in multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.
• Previous work involving the development of school mental health initiatives or programs will be beneficial.
