Work Environment

The Pain Management Nurse Practitioner will operate primarily within our Assisted Living Facility located in Eastchester, New York. This facility is designed to support residents who face various health challenges, including chronic pain. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments by obtaining complete health histories and performing comprehensive physical examinations, ensuring no detail is overlooked.
• Design, prescribe, and manage both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments tailored to each patient’s chronic and acute pain conditions.
• Provide in-depth instruction and counseling to patients about their pain management therapies, focusing on compliance with treatment regimens, medication side effects, and achieving their individual health goals.
• Closely monitor and care for patients experiencing chronic pain, adapting treatment plans based on patient feedback and clinical evidence.
• Prescribe appropriate medications in alignment with treatment plans and ensure patient safety by checking the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) for potential risks.
• Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals regularly to determine the most effective treatment strategies for complex cases.
• Utilize strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to evaluate and refine patient treatment plans.
• Develop and implement comprehensive pain management strategies that reflect the latest research and techniques in the field.
• Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to forge meaningful relationships with patients and colleagues alike.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will deliver care to a diverse patient population residing in our Assisted Living Facility, primarily composed of seniors coping with chronic pain disorders. This role requires a nuanced understanding of age-related health issues, as well as the compassion to address the complex emotional and psychological aspects of pain management.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) is mandatory.
• An active and valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in pain management or a related field is essential to effectively meet the needs of our patient population.
• In-depth knowledge of various pain disorders and their treatments is crucial.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate patients with intricate pain disorders and recommend effective management strategies.
• Proficiency in the appropriate prescribing of medications tailored for pain management.
• Experience conducting diagnostic tests to accurately identify pain causes is preferred.
• Skilled in performing pain management procedures, including but not limited to nerve blocks, spinal injections, and the usage of pain pumps.

Preferred Experience
