Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients, assessing the severity, frequency, and duration of their mood disorder symptoms to inform treatment strategies.

• Collaborate effectively with clients to co-create personalized treatment plans that consider their goals, preferences, and unique challenges.

• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help clients manage their mood disorders.

• Educate clients and their families on the nature of mood disorders, available treatment options, and practical self-care techniques to promote mental wellness.

• Monitor client progress through regular check-ins and adjust treatment plans as needed; this includes utilizing standardized assessment tools to track improvements.

• Work closely with psychiatrists and medical staff in interdisciplinary teams to ensure clients receive integrated and holistic care.

• Stay informed on the latest research and advancements in mood disorder treatments to enhance therapeutic efficacy and outcomes for clients.

• Document all client interactions, assessments, and treatment plans accurately, maintaining adherence to legal and ethical standards of practice.

• Participate in regular team meetings and case consultations to discuss client progress and share insights on best practices among peers.

• Act as an advocate for clients by promoting awareness and understanding of mood disorders within the community, working to reduce stigma associated with mental health.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The primary client population for this role includes school-aged children and adolescents experiencing mood disorders, particularly depression and anxiety. Therapists will engage with diverse backgrounds, addressing individual and systemic barriers to mental wellness. Collaborating with educational staff and families, the therapist will strive to create supportive environments conducive to the students' emotional growth and academic success.

Qualifications\n

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and active licensure for either LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.

• Strong proficiency in evidence-based treatment methodologies, particularly with mood disorders, including CBT and DBT.

• Sound knowledge of psychopharmacology and the ability to work collaboratively with psychiatrists for integrated care solutions.

Preferred Experience\n
