Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Responding to trauma alerts and promptly evaluating patients’ conditions upon arrival.
• Stabilizing patients and providing immediate life-saving interventions to prevent further deterioration.
• Assisting surgeons during procedures and facilitating resuscitation efforts in emergencies.
• Coordinating interprofessional care for trauma patients, ensuring efficient communication among the trauma team.
• Conducting thorough physical examinations and effectively interpreting diagnostic results.
• Administrating prescribed medications and treatments as directed by supervising physicians.
• Participating in wound management and assisting with invasive procedures, adhering to best practices for surgical care.
• Providing crucial education to patients and families regarding trauma care and recovery processes.
• Monitoring patients’ vital signs and managing their pain and discomfort during their treatment journey.
• Complying with established infection control protocols and safety measures in all treatment settings.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, candidates should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant health-related field along with completion from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• State licensure as a Physician Assistant in New Jersey.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills specific to trauma assessment and stabilization.
• Effective communicative and interpersonal abilities to work with a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
