Work Environment

The Surgical Center at Smith Family Medical P.C. operates onsite, providing a concentrated environment tailored to surgical interventions and patient care. The work schedule emphasizes work-life balance, with Monday to Friday hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. This structure allows you to focus on providing care while having ample personal time.

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for a range of tasks that contribute directly to patient care and support surgical operations, including:

• Working under the guidance of a supervising physician, you will function as an independent healthcare provider, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to conduct thorough health assessments.
• Managing patient care by crafting personalized treatment plans, ordering diagnostic tests, and interpreting results, thus ensuring informed decision-making in various clinical scenarios.
• Performing daily rounding and making timely patient assessments, while facilitating admissions and discharges as needed for optimal patient flow.
• Educating patients and their families about pre- and post-operative care to enhance understanding and compliance with treatment regimens.
• Assisting in the operating room during surgical procedures, providing necessary support to surgeons, and performing minor surgical interventions when appropriate.
• Participating in emergency consults and providing care within our clinic as required, ensuring continuity of care across all settings.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will engage with a diverse patient population that encompasses individuals of all ages requiring surgical intervention. From elective surgeries to urgent care situations, you will be instrumental in delivering competent care tailored to each patient's unique needs, ensuring their comfort and trust throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:

• A completed Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Current Board Certification as a Physician Assistant.
• A valid State License to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Possession of a DEA License for prescribing medications.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Completion of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with the following experiences will be prioritized:

• A minimum of two (2) years of advanced practice experience in surgery or hospital medicine.
• Hands-on experience in the operating room, particularly in laparoscopy and robotic-assisted surgeries.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team and manage complex patient situations effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

Smith Family Medical P.C. offers a competitive salary range of USD 130,000 to 170,000 annually, complemented by performance bonuses. Additional benefits include:
