Work Environment

You will be working onsite in our surgical center, where a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, nurses, and allied health professionals collaborate to create an efficient and supportive environment for surgery and patient recovery. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life integration while immersing yourself in a fulfilling surgical practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising surgeon with surgical procedures, including performing minor surgical tasks and acting as a first assist during advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
• Conduct pre-operative evaluations, develop a comprehensive treatment plan, and offer clear, actionable instructions to patients regarding their procedures and recovery process.
• Manage daily patient rounds, documenting progress notes, ordering necessary laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostics to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
• Facilitate the admission and discharge processes for patients, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately and efficiently to enhance workflow and patient satisfaction.
• Provide education to patients and their families about post-operative care, addressing any questions and concerns they might have to alleviate anxiety and promote understanding.
• Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to continuously monitor and improve the quality of surgical care provided.
• Actively engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance your skills and stay current with advancements in surgical practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will provide care to a wide range of patients from diverse backgrounds, covering all age groups. Your clinical expertise will be crucial in delivering tailored care, ensuring that each patient receives individualized attention that considers their unique medical history, cultural background, and specific surgical needs. Your role will impact not only the surgical outcomes but also the overall experience that patients have within our facility.

Qualifications

• A Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, ensuring a solid foundation of knowledge necessary for surgical practice.
• Board certification as a Physician Assistant and a valid state license to practice in New Jersey, along with a current DEA license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Attainment of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in advanced practice, particularly in surgery or hospital medicine.
• Prior experience as a first assist in laparoscopic and robotic surgery is highly desired, aiding your ability to contribute on day one.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment and possess strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 130,000 to USD 170,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a generous compensation package, this role is benefits-eligible, which includes:
