At Calm Seas Counseling Services, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive mental health clinic that serves a diverse population in Mesquite, Texas. Our clinic specializes in outpatient psychiatry and is dedicated to supporting individuals from various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and immigrant families. Our team is passionate about providing culturally competent care that acknowledges and respects the unique experiences of all patients, helping them navigate their mental health challenges effectively.

Work Environment

This role is remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while also engaging with a supportive community of mental health professionals. While the majority of your work will be conducted online, you will still enjoy the collaboration and camaraderie that comes from being part of our skilled and diverse team. Our clinic operates in a flexible work environment, with operational hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some adaptability in scheduling to meet patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough, culturally sensitive mental health assessments to gather information about patients’ mental health histories and current concerns.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions that cater specifically to patients’ cultural backgrounds and personal experiences.
• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions, focusing on promoting resilience, improving coping strategies, and addressing mental health issues.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other behavioral health professionals to ensure comprehensive care and coordinate treatment efforts.
• Provide crisis intervention and support, employing skills to de-escalate situations and guide individuals through mental health emergencies.
• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment approaches, and community resources to empower them in their recovery journey.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records while adhering to legal and ethical documentation standards, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
• Participate actively in case conferences, team meetings, and cultural competence training sessions to further enrich the clinic’s collaborative environment.
• Stay updated with current research and best practices in the field of mental health, applying this knowledge to enhance service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this position, you will primarily engage with a highly diverse patient population, including individuals facing cultural and systemic challenges. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those from marginalized communities, helping them address their mental health concerns with sensitivity and understanding.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid state license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT is mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment modalities, and culturally competent therapeutic practices.
• Demonstrated experience delivering both individual and group therapy, employing culturally responsive techniques.
• Strong crisis management skills, along with the ability to maintain composure during challenging situations.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on building rapport with clients from various backgrounds.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard computer applications is highly desirable.
• Commitment to upholding professional boundaries, adhering to ethical guidelines, and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with diverse populations and a strong understanding of multicultural issues in mental health.
• Proficiency in providing teletherapy and utilizing online therapeutic platforms to engage with patients.

Compensation and Benefits
