Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for students with various special needs, ensuring that you evaluate each child’s unique situation and requirements.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on fostering emotional well-being and integration into the school community, tailoring strategies to suit each student’s needs.

• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and trauma-informed care.

• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions to help students develop personal growth skills, emotional regulation, and effective coping mechanisms.

• Collaborate with educators, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to create a cohesive support system around the student.

• Administer crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, employing strong assessment skills and calmness under pressure.

• Educate students and families about mental health conditions and available community resources, ensuring they are equipped with information and support.
\n
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards, ensuring clear communication within the team.

• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development activities to enhance service quality.

• Stay informed on current laws, regulations, and best practices in social work to maintain the highest standards of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in our Special Education Program, you will primarily focus on a diverse population of students with special needs including those with ASD, ADHD, and other emotional and behavioral disorders. Your expertise will empower students to thrive academically and socially by addressing their unique mental health challenges through tailored support and interventions.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
\n
• Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or equivalent in the state of New York.

• Strong understanding of mental health disorders and trauma-informed care practices.
\n
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and their families.
\n
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems to document assessments and treatment plans.
\n
• Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience\n

• At least two years of post-licensure experience working in a social work capacity, preferably with a focus on children’s mental health and special education.

• Experience in group facilitation and therapeutic interventions for diverse populations.
\n
• Strong crisis intervention skills and ability to manage high-stress situations effectively.

Compensation and Benefits\n
