Work Environment

This position involves working onsite in our busy emergency department, open 24/7. You will be part of an integrated team of healthcare providers that include physicians, nurses, and trauma specialists, all working collectively to stabilize and treat patients in a critical care setting. The role demands sharp clinical skills and quick decision-making in a dynamic environment. Candidates should be prepared for a Monday to Friday schedule of 40 hours per week starting at 5:00 PM, ensuring flexible and consistent hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to trauma alerts in a timely manner and assess patient conditions effectively to determine the severity of the injuries or illnesses.
• Stabilize patients and deliver immediate care interventions to prevent further deterioration of their health status.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts by performing life-saving procedures and promptly coordinating care with the trauma team.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations and interpret diagnostic tests, utilizing hospital protocols and technology.
• Administer medications and treatments based on physician orders and healthcare best practices.
• Provide support during invasive procedures and actively manage wound care post-procedure when necessary.
• Educate patients and their families on trauma care processes, recovery steps, and ongoing treatment plans.
• Assist in the safe transfer of trauma patients to appropriate specialized units or facilities.
• Monitor patient pain levels and collaborate with the healthcare team to implement effective pain management strategies.
• Adhere to all infection control protocols to maintain a safe treatment environment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your clinical focus will be on a diverse patient population that includes individuals of all ages suffering from acute injuries and critical illnesses. You will be involved in managing cases from traumas such as motor vehicle accidents, fall injuries, and other emergency situations, requiring a strong understanding of trauma assessment protocols and quick adaptation to varying patient needs.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree followed by completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Robust clinical skills with proven ability in trauma assessment and stabilization protocols.
• Strong communication skills vital for collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team and educating patients and families.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in emergency medicine or trauma care environments.

Compensation and Benefits
