Work Environment

The typical work hours for this role are Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to 7 PM, offering a great work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physician Assistant at Prime Hospital and Medical Center, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments through thorough history-taking and physical examinations.
• Ordering, interpreting, and acting on results from various lab tests and imaging studies to inform clinical decision-making.
• Collaborating with supervising physicians to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Performing procedural tasks within your scope, such as suturing, wound care, and catheter placements, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Documenting clinical encounters and patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic, to maintain comprehensive patient records.
• Providing education to patients and their families about disease prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care to empower them in their health journeys.
• Engaging in daily rounds with the healthcare team, participating in case discussions, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintaining active licensure and board certification while actively pursuing ongoing professional development opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will primarily serve patients undergoing surgical procedures in our center, ranging from outpatient minor procedures to more complex inpatient surgeries. Our patient population includes individuals from diverse backgrounds, requiring tailored care approaches to meet their unique health needs. We focus not just on the physical well-being of our patients but also prioritize their emotional and psychological comfort throughout their healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current and valid Physician Assistant license issued by the State of New York.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
• DEA registration with prescriptive authority in New York.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital, urgent care, or specialty setting is highly preferred.
• Strong background in surgical assistance or perioperative care is an advantage.
• Demonstrated proficiency in diagnostic, procedural, and decision-making skills is essential for success in this role.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred, particularly with Epic.

Compensation and Benefits
