Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments to understand client needs and establish a personalized treatment plan.
• Provide individual counseling sessions using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
• Facilitate and lead therapy groups where appropriate, fostering a supportive environment for shared experiences and recovery insights.
• Ensure all clients feel encouraged and supported, utilizing a harm-reduction model to customize treatment approaches, including moderation versus abstinence discussions.
• Collaborate with our Content Manager on projects that highlight key therapeutic insights, further establishing community resources.
• Manage a caseload effectively and receive client referrals seamlessly, focusing on the therapeutic relationship without the burden of administrative tasks.
• Participate in optional monthly peer group meetings to enhance collaboration and share best practices among clinicians.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a licensed counselor, you will work predominantly with adults seeking assistance in changing their relationship with alcohol. Our clients may vary widely—from those looking for moderation strategies to individuals ready to pursue complete abstinence. Your empathy, clinical engagement skills, and understanding of community recovery support options such as AA and SMART Recovery will be invaluable in guiding these clients through their unique pathways toward recovery.

Qualifications

• A current and valid LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC license in the state of California.
• Formal training or certification in therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, CM, and Trauma-Informed Care.
• A solid understanding of harm-reduction models and their application in clinical settings.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients compassionately while encouraging participation in community recovery support options.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in outpatient mental health settings with a focus on alcohol use disorders.
• Familiarity with telehealth technologies and platforms that support remote therapy delivery.
• Interest in contributing to writing or leading communal support sessions is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
